Hi -- I wanted to give a quick update even though I don't have pictures to post. I have taken some cute ones of the kids, but don't have a way to transfer them from the camera to the laptop; perhaps when my IT-savvy Hubs is here he can figure out a way.
The trip is going great! We've spent hours and hours at the beach, and the kids got to try boogieboarding for the first time yesterday. The older kids each got a couple of good rides in. Lucy came here being completely terrified of the ocean waves but now she ventures in up to her calves & is getting more brave by the minute. Today we went to the San Diego Zoo, which is like, the greatest zoo ever and everyone had a smashing time! We were there for about 4.5 hours and those of us pushing strollers were really spent by the end of the day... the kids however, who had the luxury of sitting most of the time, were quite energized & ready for the next adventure by the time we got home! So, they proceeded to make a real ruckus around here until it was finally time for dinner & then bed. They all love being with their cousins and have had such a good time together.
As for the grown-ups, we've had a good time playing a few games in the evenings, talking, and also some good-natured family teasing. The husbands (sons-in-law) have not yet arrived (but will Thursday night!) so I think in their absence, my sisters & I often revert to the same dynamic that existed in our growing-up years. Mostly meaning that they tease me a lot! No, the teasing goes both ways and they are so great; we have a really fun time together. And with our parents too ~ who have received a fair dose of teasing themselves! Love you guys!!

Tonight right after I put the kids to bed & was able to watch the lovely sunset. The bright orange sun hid behind a cloud just until it was time to peek out & then sink into the blue ocean. It's just lovely here -- looking forward to another 10 days before we go back to... 112 degrees Fahrenheit at 3pm!
(This picture is the closest I could find to what it looked like here tonight!)
