We were fortunate to have Aaron's parents come down from Utah for Zoe & Lucy's birthday weekend this year. Hooray! We kept the birthday celebration pretty low-key, as it's not a "friend party year" in our house. The birthday girls wanted to go to the rec center to climb the rock wall; also everyone played ping pong and had a fun time.
In this shot, Zoe's on the top left wearing a light pink shirt, and Molly's on the right negotiating a tough overhang (both high up on the wall)! Those girls love to climb.
Aaron got a little climbing in too; here he is just about to complete the toughest climb on this wall.
After the rec center we went out to eat at Jason's Deli, then came home for presents and cake.
These were baked in 6" rounds, and I left the domed tops instead of leveling as I would normally do. Ruth helped me pipe a bunch of roses that morning; I didn't make the frosting stiff enough so it was runny and we kept the roses in the freezer before putting them on the cakes. Lucy didn't want any purple roses on her cake, so that's how we could tell the two apart.
