This weekend is a little different than most since it's General Conference weekend. The local cable station that aired General Conference in the Phoenix area for several years has stopped airing it (boo!) but luckily we can get it live online and hook up our laptop to the TV for the same effect. A few times today the internet cut out on the laptop, but we had it streaming on my desktop in the other room as our "back-up."
Every Conference I print out packets for my kids to work on; the packets serve the dual purpose of keeping the kids quiet while we watch, and hopefully they help the kids get a little something out of Conference too. This year I picked & chose several pages from different packets available online, and I made two packets for each child: one is a list of the 12 Apostles & First Presidency, with half a sheet of paper allotted to each for the purpose of taking notes during their talks. The other packet has word searches, fill-in-the-blanks, matching, etc (all Conference-related stuff). If each child completes both packets in their entirety, they will receive a candy bar at the end of the day tomorrow. So far so good...
Between sessions Saturday we did our chores, and after the afternoon session the kids swam (I guess they think it's officially swimming season now... even though Lucy's lips were blue when she came inside!) While Aaron was at the Priesthood session, the kids & I watched a movie and had pizza & ice cream, and then they had a "sleepover" in the loft (play room). I heard several comments at bedtime about what a great day it had been; I thought it was a great day too. Here's hoping for an equally great Sunday: we'll be having a delicious "Conference Sunday Brunch" of breakfast casserole, cinnamon rolls, and fruit salad so the day is almost guaranteed to start off on the right foot. With yummy food, the wonderful blessing of listening to counsel from our Prophet and Apostles, and spending the day with my lovely little family, I think it'll be a winner.

did you just google general conference packages, or what. we did better than usual just listening to 1 session. but sam didn't remember a thing from it. i like the idea of the page with each of the 12 - for taking notes. great post!
On Sugardoodle there were several to choose from, for different age groups. I went through a couple of them and selected which pages I thought my kids would like the best. Only problem was that I waited til Saturday morning, and Sugardoodle was running VERY slowly; probably because thousands of moms were doing the same thing at the same time :)
On lds.org they had a few pages to print out, too.
WHAT a great mom you are!!!! I'm SO proud of you!
Brainwash them while they are young!
