On Monday morning we looked out our window (one of them; we had windows along two full walls of our hotel room) to see this. See what I mean about a city made of glass? But do you see the window washer?
Here's another shot of him with a telephoto lens. Yikes! Not a job I would ever want to have!
That day we headed north to visit Whistler, the ski resort where many of the 2010 Winter Olympics events were held. The road to Whistler is the "Sea to Sky Highway" and it's an absolutely gorgeous drive. The first part of the way we had ocean and islands on the left:
And forest with fall leaves on the right:
It was interesting getting used to everything being in kilometers, especially when our rental car did NOT have kilometers on the speedometer! Fortunately our GPS converted to metric and we were able to get the hang of it pretty quickly. All the signs between Vancouver and Whistler were printed in English and the Squamish Indian tribe language, which was very interesting.
We stopped along the way for some sight-seeing; this pretty waterfall was right off the side of the road.
Big leaves!
Once the ocean inlet ended, our left-hand view turned into majestic snow-covered mountains.
Another stop along the way was Brandywine Falls, which took a little hike to get to, including crossing these train tracks which I thought were pretty.

We hiked around that area for a little while and there were lots of interesting things to take pictures of in the forest; I had fun playing with my camera.
By early afternoon we arrived at Whistler! We love the Olympics, so getting to visit an Olympic site is pretty cool.

Whistler was a very cute, typical ski resort town, with amazing views and really pretty fall leaves (which I couldn't get enough of). I collected lots of fall leaves there to take home to the kids.
That evening we walked around downtown Vancouver, window-shopping and looking for a place to have dinner. The end of another fun day!
