9 years old

9 years ago I was in the hospital, 10 days past my due date and ready to begin the exciting journey of motherhood. At 1:24am, after having been in labor for about 19 hours, this little dude was born; 7 pounds 5 ounces of perfect baby boy. Nothing changes your life as much as the birth of your first child, I soon found out, and life has been so much fun with this kid around.

Here are a few facts about NOAH:
  • loves his sisters
  • laughs a lot
  • loves to play the Wii, and lately, loves to play chess
  • among the smallest-statured in his grade but makes up for it with a big personality
  • really good at playing the piano
  • one of my most cuddly children, even still at this age he's always up for a hug from mom
  • a good swimmer
  • gets straight A's
  • has a great sense of humor
  • takes good care of Juno
  • helps around the house
  • loves math and science
  • loves cub scouts (and is getting his Wolf badge tonight!)
  • he's my firstborn, my only son, and such a great kid.

Happy Birthday Noah!!

Happy Birthday to Noah! I wish he could hang out with my boys.

And now I know how long it's been since I last saw you in person--driving away in the U-haul all preggers.

Ohhh, I love Noah's laugh!!

I can't believe you were 10 days overdue with him! Why weren't you induced earlier?

Happy Birthday Noah!!

We love Noah! Although, he's set the bar pretty high for all younger grandchildren with his outstanding academics and musical abilities, etc. etc. ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Can't wait to party it up tomorrow!

p.s. It has been a long time since you saw Laurie. Maybe we should plan a little trip...

In answer to the inducing question... with that pregnancy I was not very uncomfortable; I spent a lot of time in the pool towards the end and got plenty of rest and hadn't been working since I'd been 7 months preg and didn't have any other kids to take care of. My doctor was old school and didn't see any need to induce until I was two weeks late (since there was no medical reason to); I had no problem with that since I felt okay, and was in no big rush except for the desire to get on with the motherhood phase. Obviously Noah wasn't too big either, even being that late, and I was never dilated at ALL until I was in labor, so I think he was born when he was supposed to be born. (He loves that he shares a birthday with President Hinckley)

And so, thus began my "anti-inducing-without-medical-cause" stance that I retain to this day :)
