We had a fun family time last Saturday, starting off with leaving our house bright and early to drive across town to participate in a little service project. It was fun, and the kids all got involved.

We picked oranges and grapefruits from some trees in a residential neighborhood and collected them in a big pallet container, and threw away all the rotten ones. The best part about it was that our participation in this community event earned us each a free ticket to Disneyland! We'll be going sometime later this spring.

Since this project was over much sooner than anticipated, we took our time driving home and stopped by the Tempe Town Lake dam and adjacent Tempe Center for the Arts.

Upon our return home we had lunch & did our household chores, took showers, and then had a fun dinner at Denny's (where they have free kids meals on Saturdays). It was a really fun day; I sure love hanging out with this little family of mine.

wow - that's awesome!
I heard about that disney thing! That is really cool. Did you each win a ticket, or just one of you?
Each of us gets a free ticket... in fact this morning I got the confirmation email and I just printed out our vouchers; all we do is bring our vouchers and ID's to the front gate and we all get into Disneyland for free! Hooray! We're going to go in a couple of months. The free tickets are available for ages 6+ so it works out great that Zoe & Lucy just turned 6 :)
I think that Disney promotion is so fabulous. Last year it was free admission on your birthday (I went) but that wasn't a great deal for families and it didn't spur the volunteerism that this promo does. Last year, they were willing to apply the cost of your "free" ticket as a discount on multi-day or season passes, and you still have to buy their pricey food, so I'm sure they recoup their losses in the end. I just love a win-win situation.
