Anyone who knows me knows that I do NOT generally enjoy jokes or discussions about bodily functions. Growing up in a family of mostly girls, we kept "body humor" away from the dinner table, and any other table we sat around for that matter.
Whether it's because my oldest child is an almost-10-year-old boy or what, those types of conversations have happened more frequently around here than I would sometimes like. But last night it was really funny (although I'm sure it won't sound as funny on the re-tell).
It started with Noah passing gas, audibly, followed by giggling, and Aaron saying, "ZOE!!" in mock-blame (she was on the opposite side of the table). Then all the kids were mock-blaming each other, over and over, with every little noise, squeak of a chair, etc. Until one of the kids said, "MOM!!!" but then Molly quickly came to my defense. She said, "Mom never passes gas! Mom's always.... appropriate." What a sweetheart. Then Zoe said, "You're right; Mom's always appropriate, and we're always INappropriate!" And she did these hilarious single-fingered air-quotes when she said it.
I'm glad my kids think I'm "appropriate." It was pretty funny.

Awesome story. It's these kinds of ordinary things that we miss the most. It's also very apparent that they are growing up. Their Mothers Day cards are plastered all over our kitchen walls. Please hug them all for us.
Stuff is never as funny when being re-told. I'm sure people read my blog entries and wonder how it's funny, but in the moment it was hysterical!
With two boys, bodily functions and discussions are just part of our life unfortunately...
Unlike Danika, I still thought it was pretty funny. :)
haha :) the retell was funny. i even read it out loud to dan, who laughed out loud.
I always thought my mom was "appropriate too until I was 12 or so, when I actually heard her being "inappropriate."
Oh my goodness, that is super funny! Thanks for sharing that little jewel on your blog! I feel so proud to have raised such an 'appropriate' daughter!
you even got the single quotes right Pam
I laughed! Great job being such an 'appropriate' mom. I don't think I would qualify!
