Look who got a haircut!

This year, my girls all just needed a trim before school starts... nobody was planning on getting a major haircut so I decided I'd save money and do their trims myself (even though I haven't cut any of my kids' hair in a very, very long time!) So yesterday afternoon, the girls took showers and lined up in my bathroom for their turn for a trim. Lucy was first and suddenly she declared, "I want it to be THIS short!" indicating chin-length hair. I was surprised and we talked about it for a few minutes but she was adamant that she wanted short hair. So, okay! I cut it short! It took forever because I was so concerned about making it look even, and good in the back, and etc. but I think it turned out okay. Molly and Zoe then proceeded to get about 1 1/2" trimmed off as we'd agreed earlier. (Molly is growing hers out for Locks of Love, and she plans to chop it short - probably chin-length - in the next month or two. It's getting LONG!)

Well about half an hour after the hair cuts were over, I realized that Lucy wasn't playing with the other kids so I went to find her. I found her in her room with the door closed, hiding under her covers, sobbing! She was SO upset about her hair; having major regret about deciding to cut it short. Poor girl! I kept telling her that besides the fact that it looks fine, there are two very good things about it being its new length: #1, she had so much GREEN hair from swim team all summer, and now the green's all cut off and it's so healthy, and #2, she's growing out her bangs and now they are so close to her hair length. She was still very sad for the rest of the day and refused to look in the mirror because she thought it looked so awful. Today she was better; still not thrilled about it but at least not so sad and she's back to looking in the mirror again. I guess next time she makes a snap decision about her hair, I'll be sure she thinks it through! But in the meantime, I think it's awfully cute.

I think it's adorable and makes her look so much older! Natalie really wants her hair short (like mine she says). I hate doing her hair, so it just might happen! :)

Awe. I think it looks good. Hopefully, it'll 'grow' on her soon.

Have fun in school kids!

Looks great! I hope she enjoys the less work of short hair.
