I'm out of ideas. We are signed up for Blockbuster's online program, which is AWESOME, but I'm having a hard time filling the queue. It seems that we've already seen all of today's recent, non-R-rated releases, so I find myself checking the "recently released to DVD" list but still coming up short. I've also checked the "Oscar winners" list which is why last week we watched On the Waterfront; a Marlon Brando classic. So, I'm open to suggestions. Anyone who knows us knows the following about our cinematic tastes:- We like most modern action-adventure flicks*, some drama too.
- "Old" movies are great, but let's keep it in the talkie-era please.
- We love "classic epics" although there are very many in that category we've yet to see.
- Most "cute" movies are out.
- Same goes for most chick-flicks.
- I like a good, feel-good sports-themed movie but the hubs doesn't as much.
- We are not opposed to old war movies, like Tora Tora Tora.
- Hubs can't stand John Wayne or Sandra Bullock.
- I can't stand Nicholas Cage.
- *Most, if not all, John Woo movies are not preferred.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this would be an excellent opportunity to post a comment if you are too shy or for any other reason have yet to comment on this blog yet read it on a semi-regular basis! How's that for a run-on sentence? But seriously folks, I need movie ideas. All ya gotta do is hit the "0 comments" link below & post away... you may be anonymous if you choose. But I would really like to get a good list of suggestions going here.
Thanks!
***Caveat*** We are really not as picky as it might seem. If any new movie is good enough to have stayed in theaters for any length of time, has a decent plot, etc, we're all for it. So, please post your suggestions for any movies; any genre, etc. Thanks again!

Have you seen "Talladega Nights?" I hear it's a real hoot!
"An Unfinished Life"
Ooh, LOVE the anonymous responses! Even though I have a clue about the first respondent. Watching Talladega Nights was one of the only times I've heard multiple grown men giggle. Yes, giggle.
What's "An Unfinished Life" about?
Plot summary for
An Unfinished Life (2005)
In order to escape from the abusive boy-friend, Gary Winston (Damian Lewis), Jean Gilkyson (Jennifer Lopez) moves with her young daughter Griff Gilkyson (Becca Gardner) without previous notice to the ranch of her father-in-law Einar Gilkyson (Robert Redford) in Wyoming. Jean and Einar are disaffected, since he blames her for the death of his beloved son in a car accident. Einar is taking care of his friend Mitch Bradley (Morgan Freeman), who was attacked and seriously wounded by a bear, and he does not know that he has a grand-daughter.
I am in the same predicament as you. We have the Blockbuster movie pass free for a month and have had a hard time finiing movies to watch. I can't give you too many recommendations because I love chick flicks but we watched Night at the Museum which was OK but not bad. If I see anymore or think of any, I will pass it on!
I thought An Unfinished life was pretty good too. I also liked Deja Vu, which you may or may not have seen already. Stranger than fiction was pretty good. A little bit slow, but I think worth seeing at least once.
I thought of one more...Fly Boys was pretty good too. You've probably seen it already, but if not, it's also worth seeing.
