Mommy Day

I didn't have time to post anything yesterday but it was a really great Mother's Day for me. At 6:45am yesterday morning, which is the absolute point-of-no-return on getting out of bed for me on Sundays, Aaron said to me, "Is there anything I can do to help you be able to sleep a little longer?" What a sweetie. I said there was nothing he could do, I just had to get up & in the shower... but after my shower he brought me some breakfast of toast & juice, garnished with a lovely fragrant gardenia from one of our gardenia bushes. (I normally skip breakfast on Sundays since I always run out of time getting ready for church, so the toast tasted great!) He followed that up by bathing the girls, so all I had to do was to fix their hair. The kids presented me with handmade cards; Noah's was a real tease: he drew a picture of a Nestle's Crunch Bar with a dark brown marker that SMELLS like chocolate! Plus a lovely card & present from Aaron, and my kitchen table was already beautified by a lovely bouquet from my parents.

I was on my feet cooking all afternoon for our family get-together, but the labor did not in any way detract from the lovely day. (I like cooking!) It was so much fun to be together with all of my family; especially most of my most favorite mom's: my own terrific mom, my sisters, and one of my Grandmas were there. They all helped clean up the huge mess that our dinner created (a Thanksgiving feast!) and that was a great Mother's Day gift to me! After everyone left, Aaron put the kids to bed and I relaxed. The end of a wonderful day.

I truly love my #1 job of being a Mother.

A couple of lovely Mother's Day quotes:

The noblest calling in the world is that of mother.

- David 0. McKay

All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.

- Abraham Lincoln

(Note: the above photo is actually from Easter; Noah has lost those two front teeth since then!)
