Pleased to meetcha

It has come to my attention that maybe some of you don't know what I look like. Yes, I know I still haven't chosen an avatar to represent myself. I don't know why it's so hard for me; some people change theirs all the time without a second thought. Well, I'm working on it. In the meantime, I have now had two chance encounters with fellow bloggers who I read regularly but do not actually know except through a friend of a friend of a friend, or something...

In December I practically bumped into this girl at the temple when we were both there with our husbands and children one night to see the Christmas lights. As I looked down to take the usual every-30-seconds-headcount-in-a-crowded-public-place of my 4 children, I immediately recognized the sleeve of her coat, before her face; a cute pink long coat she'd had pictures of herself wearing on her blog. I had admired the coat and noticed it right away at the temple. A glance at her face confirmed her identity, but I could not in that instant recall her name so I didn't say hello! (But I sent her an email the next day.)

Then, only several days ago, I ran into this girl at the temple (the temple again, funny!) - inside this time - and I immediately recognized her face and said hello, introducing myself as "Sara from Happy Life" - I knew she'd recognize the name since she has left comments for me and I've left them for her, but I don't think she recognized what I looked like.

Both of these lovely girls post pictures of themselves on their blogs frequently enough that I recognized them right away, and they are both just as cute in person!

So with that preamble, here's me. If you run into me and only know me from blogland, please say hello!

First picture: most recent; last Saturday at Molly's birthday party. Next: in October. And then: last July at Sea World with Lucy. Last picture: my hair. Just in case you only see me from the back. It's pretty long, pretty thick, pretty brown, and quite often in a ponytail - although I have been wearing it down more lately (but couldn't find any pictures of it down). I do have glasses that I wear about 1/3 of the time but couldn't find any pictures of myself in them either. Lucy told me recently that I look better without them; thanks Lu. You may notice my large forehead (which makes bangs a necessity) and my left eye that always squints when I smile. I didn't do any airbrushing on these photos; decided to give you the straight scoop. My skin has aged quite a bit these past couple of years with lots of sun-laden (my favorite kind) trips to California, Lake Powell, and Hawaii. 2007 was particularly brutal with 4 total weeks of nothing but being in the sun. I will be more careful with sunscreen in 2008 so that I don't look 50 before I'm 35! And, oh my, I just noticed that I'm wearing very similar (if not the same) earrings in 3 of the above pictures... how embarrassing! I swear I have other kinds than that. I am not an only-ponytail-and-medium-silver-hoops girl!

love the new back ground on your blog (for all I know it's not new b/c I usually read you in my Google reader!) And even if you do wear those silver hoops and a pony tail all the time, that is just great! I had 1 pair that I always wore and rarely changed b/c my skin is so sensitive. So much so that the morning we got married all the pictures right after the ceremony I was still wearing them and had forgotten to put my fancy ones on! I did get them on later, but the majority of my pictures I'm wearing those dumb silver ones!

So nice to finally put a face with your name!

You look especially good in that top picture! Of course you didn't touch any of the pictures up with Photoshop...you don't need to!

You look great, I don't notice any sun damage. :) Seriously, not much different than our early days.

I like pic number two for your avatar.

Maybe we should vacation at the temple so we could meet up with you too!

Fun post. I enjoyed the pics...even though I know what you look like a little refresher is good every now and again :)
I've noticed that Jamie wears medium sized silver hoops a lot too...it must run in your family! haha.

First of all, I don't own any medium silver hoops... so it must not "run in the family." Or maybe I'm just not as cool as the other sisters. ;)
Secondly, I was a little disturbed upon seeing the pictures because (it may be the size of my screen or something) the watermark of the flowers on the left was covering your face making it looks like you had some seriously birth marks. I was thinking "WHY ON EARTH would she put that creepy picture of herself on there!!??" Then I scrolled, and obviously the "birth marks" went away.
Third, how funny. I never even think of people I don't know checking my blog (although it may happen?). I wouldn't have thought to introduce myself! I think I occasionally have my own pic on there though.
Fourth, these are lovely photos. And it IS lovely to meetcha.

Oops -- I composed this post on my big 22" monitor so the flowers in the background were well to the left of the pictures. I have changed the opacity now so I don't have "seriously birth marks." :)

And Kate I'm sure you have some "strangers" who read your blog from time to time -- but you have pictures of yourself on there sometimes, as well as on the sidebar, so I'm sure someone would recognize you :)

wow - your hair's long! I'm not sure why I'm surprised, it was usually long.

also - I'm soooooo sorry for every saying anything before about your lovely forehead, REALLY sorry!

and - I think you look the same as you did in all those freshman year pics (when are you going to scan them and send them?)

Love you

I KNOW, I KNOW... I had some major seriously typos. ;) But I was typing a lot and fast... and I saw them AFTER I posted, but didn't feel like correcting myself at the time. So embarrassing.

Also, I wanted to say I think the picture of the back of your head is hilarious. As if someone would recognize you from that! You're so funny.
