Mmm, smells piney in here

Last night was just perfect. Hubs got home from work at 4:40, we ate dinner promptly at 5:00 (very early for us) (and it was some very tasty homemade chicken & vegetable fried rice)... then by 5:45 we were on our way to get our tree. We picked out the first Noble fir we looked at, at Lowe's, fresh off the truck from Monday, and were back home by 6:15. The kids watched Charlie Brown Christmas (our favorite Christmas movie) and got their pj's on while Hubs put on the lights & I got out the ornaments, then it was time for some serious tree trimmin'. By 7:20, the kids had put all the ornaments on that would fit, the Suns has just won their game in HiDef, and we were ready to read about Ruth & Naomi & put the kids to bed. (Ruth & Naomi just happened to be where we were in the OT, but you know the lineage down to Christ's birth really kinda tied it in for us!) The night went like clockwork... not to mention that not one ornament was broken in the process (can't say the same for last year - when it was a Krazy-glue fest). Now, this morning I'll have to rearrange a few things since last night I let them put the ornaments any ol' place they darn well choose.

But it's not too far from perfection.

Man, did that bring back a rush of memories! It's not quite the same when all the kids are gone! I did coerce Emily to help with some of the decorating when she was here Thanksgiving weekend for the radiation isolation. That was great--just like old times. You're a great mom & wife. Thanks for all that you do.
