Only 3 days before the 2008 Presidential Primaries officially kick off in Iowa! I mean, the REAL voting. No more straw polls, opinion polls, speculation and analysis. This is IT, folks. Keep your fingers crossed!
Our man seems to be in a pretty good position, going in these early primary states (Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, Nevada, etc). Still, the race is getting nasty. I read yesterday that some voters in South Carolina have received fake Christmas cards in the mail saying they're from the Romney family, with some "controversial" quotes from the Book of Mormon (which illustrate some of the differences between what we believe and what most protestants believe), and stating on the back of the card, "Paid for by the Boston Massachusetts Temple." Errgh. Too bad people have to stoop to such lows. (No word yet on the perpetrators.)
Well it is comforting that among all the supposedly negative ads going on currently amongst the front-runners of the early states, Romney's ads against Huckabee and McCain simply point out policy differences (like Huckabee's stand on illegal immigration, and McCain's being against the Bush tax cuts) - factual information, whereas in contrast, Huckabee has come out calling Romney "dishonest and desperate" and McCain has called him a "phony" in a recent commercial. Nice come backs, boys.
As unfortunate and tragic as former Prime Minister Bhutto's assassination in Pakistan was (last week), it has served to help show the idiocy of Mike Huckabee. You should hear the way he's answered questions about Pakistan and foreign policy issues in general. Huckabee's surge is over, now that people are realizing what a dummy he is. Yep, a dummy.
This may be SO boring to some of you. But I've been waiting for this week for months now, and I'm pretty excited for the primaries to really begin! Watch for the winner of Iowa this Thursday!
