I have been such a proud supporter of Mitt Romney during this presidential campaign. He has suspended his campaign now (which means instead of "quitting," he can still legally receive contributions for a possible future run). He gave a wonderful speech today at CPAC, some of which you can see here. He is a real leader and a gentleman. From here out, here's what I predict: John McCain will easily win the Republican nomination. Huckabee is vowing to stay in but that's pure poppycock. He has zero support outside of the south, and as far as the delegate count, he'd have to get an overwhelming majority in every remaining primary, and even then I don't think the math works out for him to ever win it.
Unfortunately it appears that Obamamania has swept the nation and he will most likely be the Democrat nominee. And, looking at
Obama vs. McCain, there is
NO WAY IN H-E-doublehockeysticks
that McCain can beat such an exciting, charasmatic candidate as Obama. So, Obama will be our next president. I will vote for McCain in November, but I don't think he can win (he could beat Hillary, but I don't think she will beat Obama in the primary).
BUT it won't take long for people to realize that Obama is a terrible president. The only thing he has going for him is his vitality and winning personality. He is dead wrong on the ISSUES. His liberalism is frightening. We can only pray that no Supreme Court justices will die, and that Obama's policies won't screw our country up too badly during his short four years in office. After a year or two, America will be looking ahead with great eagerness to the 2012 election and another new president to come and save the day. That person will be MITT ROMNEY. By then, people will be tired of talking about his religion, his change of position on abortion, and his never-messed-up hair. They will just be glad to have him, and he'll win the 2012 election by a landslide. (McCain will be 76 by then and retired, having lost his 2010 senate re-election. Yep, I have a crystal ball.)
Mark my words!
In the meantime, thank you Mitt Romney. It was a good run. You ran the cleanest campaign of the bunch. You were the best candidate of the bunch. I'm sorry it ended this way but I think your suspending your run now is the right move and I just really look forward to 2012!!
(And Hubs thanks you too; he'll have his wife back... now that I won't be obsessed with the campaign 24 hrs a day!)
Update: For a great summary on why we should vote for McCain in November, even though we don't like him, read here.
And, for those of you who have been bored to tears with these political posts, I will return to my usual carefree stuff. Coming soon: The time I was famous!

I almost called you today when I heard. I just happened to have the TV on fox news when they broke the news. It is really sad but now he can learn from this experience and come back next time stronger and better. It is so sad that people look at your religion and judge you based on what you believe. I hope the people of American are ready for a Democratic President. Whether it is Obama or Clinton, both will ultimately be a disappointment because off all the crap they are saying now just to get elected. Thanks for all the updates on the campaign. You did a fantastic job!
i think you are so right about everything. it's a sad day, though.
Thank you Happy Life! Your energy and passion for Mitt's cause has been a great example for those of us who just sit back and watch the political world go by! I look forward to 2012!
#1. When I heard the news about Mitt today, I felt very sad for YOU, Sare. I was trying to figure out the best way to tell you. I wanted to let you down easy.
#2. You should be proud of yourself for your involvement because even if your dishes weren't always getting done, you helped inform the rest of us. You made me want to get more involved. Hello...you made people vote! (Thanks, Jason.)
#3. You are always so optimistic. It really is one of your greatest qualities. It's inspiring.
#4. McCain or Obama? What stinky choices. I've been so anti-McCain, it will be hard to vote for him.
#5. Loved your reference to hockey.
#6. Get on with the "almost famous" post because I was part of that!
Sorry that I put "almost" famous, when it was in deed totally FAMOUS.
I was sad for you today too, and for Mitt, and for me. Because I wanted him too (to be the president). Although - I have to ask if you'd rather have Hillary as the democratic candidate?
ps - you need to email me again and give me all your opinions about Obama because I really don't like McCain.
You are all so nice, being so concerned about Happy Life in her time of mourning.
But Happy Life is nothing if not resilient! So, onward we go :)
Due to concern amongst some of you, I will, at some point in the future, outline the pros/cons of a Hillary, Obama, or McCain presidency, and why we should or should not vote for them. There's no rush on that; we have until November. But if you haven't voted in a primary yet and can vote for a democrat, I would choose Hillary, as grating-like-fingernails-on-a-chalkboard as that sounds. Ugh.
This has truly become a race of least desirables. I'm very sad. I'm thinking the Republicans will have a hard time beating either Democrat. I'm glad you are so resilient and remain positive. Plus, there's always Canada. But it's sooooo cold.
I think this post is great, and I was going to post something similar... but you said it all so much better than I could have... so I'm directing all of my blog readers to you. :)
I think I am still going put Mitts name on my vote, I just can't vote for McCain.
I can't do it. I just can't do it!!!! I can't not vote for a man as volital as McCain.
Oh, yeah! I'm glad you found it! I love your blog, I am so jelous about the bball game. Brian and I are huge jazz fans, when we lived in SLC I got my parents tickets too! how funny!
