Valentine's Gifts

You know what's funny? It's been a few years since I lost my aforementioned star ring, and it has not been a topic of discussion in this household at all. Entirely by coincidence, I posted about it, whilst Hubs had been shopping over the past week or so to find me a replacement ring - no mention of the subject to each other at all. We're like, SO in sync.

Being awesome as he is, he also had flowers sent today along with a small box of chocolates. Perfect.

My gift to Hubs: a card this morning, indicating that he would discover his present when he got home. The man likes a clean house... and while I do a pretty okay job of keeping the downstairs clean, where visitors actually see it, the upstairs is another story. We keep after the kids about keeping their rooms & toyroom picked up, and they do okay at that... but the master bedroom usually looks like a tornado hit it. It's basically grand central station in there, the hub of laundry, kids changing clothes, and somehow all kinds of the kids' junk ends up in there too. The "surfaces" - big dresser, two nightstands, tv, and bookshelves, also never see the light of day.

So I spent a solid 3 hours in there this afternoon and turned out a miraculous result. Patting myself on the back for cleaning my bedroom? Yes. Anyone who has ever lived with me knows what a labor of love this was...

(The rest of the room looks good too but my camera won't pan any wider. And don't tell me how cheap I am for this gift; he REALLY liked it!! And I don't need any cynics telling me that it would be easier if I would just keep it clean all the time, or that a grown woman deserves no accolades for doing her household duty; I already know all that! Housekeeping comes easy to some. Not me. Baking comes easy to me. Blogging comes easy to me. Umm, I'm sure there are other things too... oh yeah, being happy! Happy Valentine's Day!!)

you are my girl! I should send you a picture of my room. It would make you feel really good. It looks exactly as you described, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Happy Valentines Day to you! I should clean it tomorrow... hmmmm.

It looks fantastic! You did a great job and it was the perfect gift for AP. The picture reminded me of how nice your carpet is...and how I need new carpet!

I have shared a room with you... and I will back you up by saying that this is indeed a true labor of love. Way to go! It looks lovely. And your room is ten times bigger than that picture makes it look...

Must be a really big room!

My whole house is a mess right now--that's what happens when mommy gets the afternoon crankies and tireds.

Maybe I'll work on my room Saturday?

P.S. Did you see Dan's late comment on your Suns post?

Yes Laurie - I saw Dan's comment (I have it set up to email me when I get a comment, that way I don't miss the "late" ones, which has happened a few time) and you know what, he should get his own identity; no reason for him to post comments as Laurie!! Also, he wasn't the only guy to notice those huge boobs behind me...

I noticed too... and I love that Dan called them bazongas.

What a great gift. I try and try to keep my house clean, but sometimes I just give up. Kudos to you for doing that. You should come see my entire house right now! It would make you feel a lot better. Even when you see it and it's clean. Check out the bedrooms. Now that I've let out my secrets, it's time to make an exit

Hi Sara!!

I'm glad you get email notification of comments so you won't miss mine. :)
Woo hoo for house-cleaning gifts! That was a major part of my gift to Ty - a clean bedroom and kitchen and living room. It was a very good gift- I'd forgotten how happy it makes him to be in a completely clean house (which sounds like my housekeeping skills are greatly lacking). :) And it took me HOURS. Certainly a labor of love!

Good job for cleaning! My room is the disaster of the house too (along with the dining room table, and any other flat surface where I can stack everything). Lucky for me Dan doesn't really care if the house is clean. (Except that means it's always a disaster.)
