Random birthday thoughts

Yes indeedy, today was my birthday.

About a month ago I was talking to one of my piano students, age 8, and the subject of age came up. I told him I was almost 33 and he said, "You're almost 33? You only look about 23!" (Thanks Ben!)

Today at church someone told me something to the effect that age 33 is supposed to be the perfect age, or the perfect year, or something (sorry Emi - I couldn't hear you very well!) so I'd better live it up this year!

Last year my brother emailed me an mp3 original song for me for my birthday - I thought it was such a cool present. This is my brother on two guitar tracks and drums, recorded primitively in his backyard "music shed" (which contains drums, guitars, amps, and even an old Hammond organ) using his mp3 player, before he had gotten some better recording/mixing equipment. At the time he made excuses about the quality of the sound, the couple of times when he wasn't perfectly in synch with himself, etc. But I was still totally impressed. I love my musical family!

At least one of these players should work for you. The top one is windows-based and the bottom one is flash. I got Hubs to work on it for me and get these figured out; should've gone to him in the first place!!

I always loved it growing up when my birthday fell on Memorial Day weekend because we would very often spend that weekend at our cabin in the forest, and that was one of my favorite places to be so I loved being able to celebrate my birthdays there. Tomorrow we'll be celebrating it at my parents' house with our annual Memorial Day swim party/BBQ/ping pong tournament. Having the addition of my husband, children, nieces, nephews, and brothers-in-law make birthday celebrations much more fun, no matter where they're held. Tomorrow will be awesome! Thanks to everyone who has wished me a happy birthday today and sent cards in the mail, called, emailed, brought me cookies, etc. I have a wonderful family and friends!

Happy Birthday, again! And are we supposed to be able to hear Zac's song? I tried to click on that Windows Media player thing, but got nothing. I didn't know he did that for you and would LOVE to hear it.

See you in a few hours!

The blue music player works on my desktop but not my laptop; the pink one is supposed to work but doesn't on my desktop; maybe it will for you? I'll mess with it more later.

That kid needs a recording contract! He's so awesome! He's just as cool as his music sounds! I'm so glad that I got to hear it.

Oh Man! I missed it again! Happy late birthday. And it sounds like you had fun. Tell Zac his song was awesome. I don't know why I wouldn't assume he was musical (maybe it's because I see him as 6 or 8 or however old he was when I lived there.) Anyway - we'll talk one of these days.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARA!!! Sorry I'm late. Your blog freezes my computer since all the cool changes awhile ago so I don't get here as often as I used to... How's that for a belated birthday excuse? ;) I hope it was great. I never realized you and Sjon are the same age. As someone who likes to do cool number tricks in her head, I'm sure you'll appreciate my family's year of 3's: Sjon is turning 33 next week, I'll be 30 in September, Megan turned 3 in April, Heidyn just turned 9 (3 x 3) last week, and Evelyn was born on 3/13. Fun, huh?

I didn't forget your birthday, I just didn't have access to email as I was traveling all day Sunday--but I thought of you. Happy belated birthday!
