Happy Veterans Day

(not my dad pictured)

Did I ever tell you that my Dad did this (above) in Viet Nam? He is always the first person I think of on Veteran's Day. He was a scout dog handler; he and his dog would be in front of the rest of the platoon, sniffing out tripwires, landmines, and the enemy. Scary!

We have so much to thank our veterans for. How great that we have a day to honor them. It's fun to have the kids home from school, too!

In other news... last night I was able to go to the Suns game, last minute, with my sister Jamie and our parents. You'll never guess what, we got on the "Delta Dental Smile Cam" again! Jamie really has a knack for getting the attention of the camera man clear across the arena. I didn't have my camera with me this time, and we both decided to be "cool" and look at the camera instead of up at ourselves on the Jumbotron, so we didn't really get to see ourselves. If any of you happened to be there and saw us, I was wearing a black shirt and Jamie an orange one. So famous, so famous.

I was talking to my kids about Veteran's Day today and, of course, we started talking about Dad. Brooklyn was very quick to remember Lobo (his dog). I was impressed that she remembered his name and wanted to talk about him.

And, yeah, we are pretty much the most famous people around! Someone is going to see us on that Smile Cam and offer us a movie role. Or maybe just a Crest White Strips commercial. Something has to come of it!!

Ya, I'm always proud to tell people that my dad and my Husband were both Air Forcers! Military people ROCK!

Speaking of patriotism...I had an awsome anonymous comment on my "Oh Crap" post about the election...check it out!

The girls and I were talking about veterans today, and Lauren asked, "Was Dad in World War I or II?" I always thought my parents were pretty young, but apparently my kids think their parents are positively ancient. Ancient or not, I'm awfully proud to be married to a veteran. :)

Love that we got Veteran's Day off and were able to go shopping all day!

Both papas came to the boys' thank veterans program at school--it was cool.

Exactly how does Jamie attract the attention?
