On the bright side,

It was over early, so my kids didn't have to stay up too late.

(The electoral maps were a hit!

And yes I know I should've moved the plant before snapping this picture.)

So we are in mourning over here at Happy Life. I may or may not have cried during McCain's concession speech (I don't care who you are; that was one gracious speech).

As you may recall, I did predict this outcome, shortly after Super Tuesday in February. That isn't to say I didn't have hope for a miracle. Oh well; the American people have spoken, and it will surely be interesting to see what we're in for.

But there is some really good news; Prop 102 in AZ and Prop 8 in CA both PASSED!

Those light-hearted posts I promised are coming soon!

Been thinking about your prophetic skills all day. Good thing the kids got to sleep early.

I loved McCain's speech. And tears were shed here in Dominica too. PS. I made your pudding cakes! They were really good but I didn't have walnuts and I think that would have enhanced the flavor. Thanks for the recipe and I am glad we can finally be "friends" again!

"On the bright side," at least Prop 102 passed!

I too loved McCain's speech. It was perfect (except for him having to shush all the annoying BOO-ers).

We left the TV off most of the night. We would turn it on occasionally to check, but we were too depressed to sit and watch. That's good news about prop 8 and 102!

I cried too. What a great speech!
But have you read Stacy's and Stephanie's posts? First of all, I'm with Stacy... I'm so happy that the props passed. Hallelujah! And I'm with Stephanie... we have so much to be thankful for... and we just have to do our best to protect our homes and families and teach righteous principles.
I do think it's pretty amazing that America elected a black president. That is quite huge.

As a Republican and Arizonan, I really cried quite a lot last night! I was quite surprised. Afterward I realized it was only partly because of the McCain loss and speech but mainly I was still upset over "Martha's" verbal attacks on my firstborn and her views. You will always be my baby girl! OK, if I am that sensitive I need to take my own advice and lay off the blogs! I am excited that our country has come this far.

We stayed up late watching speeches. Lindsay watched both concession and victory speeches with us. We were sad McCain lost but still felt an overwhelming sense of pride for participating in such an historic event. My tears did come today while watching The View.

That's so great both 102 and 8 passed, I was still wondering about 8. I like that your post is called on the bright side, I like to look at the good side too, instead of the negative side. great idea about coloring each state withe your kids. They are so cute and smart!
