It was a perfect pink cake before I went a little crazy with my piping. It had a flat top, straight sides, delicious inside, nice even frosting, etc. There were a few obvious problems which led to this cake's downfall: #1, I didn't have a plan going into it. No picture in my head. Just started piping like a crazy lady. #2, I didn't make the red icing; it was store-bought and really not the right consistency to be forced through a frosting bag & no. 4 tip. I was close to scraping it all off and starting over but Molly liked it and that's the important thing.
In other birthday news, Molly had a great time with her grandparents in town and we kept it to just a simple household celebration this year. Just the right amount of presents and well-wishers. Here she is with her newest prized possession, which she is SO excited about:

You should give yourself more credit with that cake! Come to my house anytime and take over...if fact my kids would probably appreciate it since mine are half as fancy and creative as that!
So glad it was the cake and not the birthday girl you weren't proud of!
I think it looks great, and perfect for a laid back birthday.
Oh man, I guess I should've been more clear! The cake. I am very proud of the birthday girl :)
She is so cute with her missing front teeth! And I love that picture of her from when she was little. I always said that she was one of the cutest babies EVER!
Still loks better then any cake I've ever made.
