Something fishy is going on here.
We have had our 20-gallon fishtank for almost 3 years, and have had plenty of fish die here and there, but now suddenly we have lost six fish in the past couple of weeks and are down to just one left, and she isn't looking too good (no telling whether "she" is a she, but her name is Rosie). Apparently some kind of fishy plague has struck our tank because six perfectly healthy fish suddenly dying is not normal.
Fortunately our kids don't seem to be the least bit sentimental about it, even though a few of the recently deceased are fish we've had for almost three years. Once Rosie dies, which will presumably be soon, we're going to put the fishtank away in the garage for a while and possibly get it out in the future when we decide to have fish again. In the meantime, we're happy with our "real" pet (Juno the dog).
And so, let us observe a very brief moment of silence for Al-2, Al-3, Shadrack, Meshack, Glinda, and Bruce. Every child to visit our house loved looking at you and tapping on your glass.
In unrelated news, today is our 4th anniversary of living in this house! Time flies.

Something fishy is going on here. You told me a few weeks ago that you were "ready to be done" with the fish. And now they are *mysteriously* all dying off. Hmmmm. Are you maybe ACCIDENTALLY forgetting to feed them? :)
Oh yeah, and sorry for you loss!
Does she or did the others have white spots on them or eat off each others fins (I know, gross). We lost all our fish to a disease called "ick" (I am not making this up). There are drops you can buy at the pet store to put in the water and get rid of the bacteria. Good luck!
Anon, we've had Ick before and did try those drops. Thanks though! Rosie seems to be doing pretty well; hopefully she won't mind being alone for a while! It's weird that whatever killed the rest of them didn't kill her. I think maybe the most recent addition, Al-3, a couple weeks ago, brought something with him from Petsmart.
All of our fish died off too... but slowly. I just stopped replacing them. We were down to one for a while, and finally we just decided to flush him (Nemo lived just fine when he went down the drain, right?). I was SO excited to clean up the tank and dry everything out and pack it away. It was last November, I think. We'll do fish again in a few years, I'm sure.
We're down to our last one too. Calico and Unicorn lived much longer than one would have thought. This last one stayed at the bottom of the tank for over a month. We stopped feeding it because it wouldn't move for food. We kept waiting for it to turn belly up. Then, it just decided to start swimming again. Like Jesus, it fasted for 40 days. Anyway, last week it grew a big bulge by its butt (I was thinking impaction), but now that's burst and it's still swimming. I'm still not feeding it because it never eats.
Nate just came in and asked me if we weren't giving the fish food because we want it to die. Nice timing. I explained to him how it's just not eating anything. Maybe we should call this one Ghandi.
It's probably time to grow some like Kate and just Nemo it.
