It just occurred to me that I never showed you my favorite of our fall 2009 home improvement projects, my kitchen lighting! The picture above was taken in 2005 when we had been in this house about a month and we had just barely gotten the granite countertops put in (notice the faucet isn't on the sink yet). But the point of showing this now is for you to notice the apartment-style flourescent fixture that we've had ever since then. This past fall, two of the ballasts burned out and Aaron took the opportunity to go ahead and redo the whole thing, putting in 6 recessed can lights, and two pendants over the island. I love it! Isn't he so handy? There was not nearly enough light before; if I ever wanted to sit at the island to work on a project before I would turn on every downstairs light in order to see what I was working on.
Since I don't have a good still photo of the "after," you get this little video instead:
We made a video for Aaron's parents for Christmas (they're on a mission in Brazil) and this short clip was for them to see the new lighting. I'm not sure if this clip made it onto their DVD or not (?) ... well I'm sharing it here with you. Unfortunately the counters were pretty cluttered that day, but look at all those great lights! Hooray!
And seriously, with singing like this, I don't know HOW those Phoenix Suns people could've rejected me & my sisters! :)

It says video is not available?!?
wow, the new lights look so much better!
We are starting a mini facelift and some new pendant lights are on the list!!! Nice singing by the way.
Oh my goodness. That was so funny. I know you didn't mean to post this video as a joke, but first your singing and then your "Vanna White"-ness with showing them off. Awesome! And the lights are GREAT!
I love the lighting! But what I love even more is the fact that I now know what these pictures of your house really are...now that we have FINALLY been there.
I really like the lighting. It gives me ideas, but I remind myself, there is no way we are staying in this house for that long.
