A day off from school

Here's what we did:

The kids celebrated by having a sleepover in the loft (play room) all together on Sunday night.

On Monday morning everyone had two breakfasts: cereal then Eggos, cereal then Malt-o-meal, Malt-o-meal then Eggos; everyone's preference was different.

The kids played restaurant (setting up table & chairs, full place-settings, fake food made from paper, menus, order-taking, etc).

The kids played train (bar stools & chairs all lined up, complete with "stuff" sufficient for their journey).

The kids played house (lots of blanket/chair/couch structures).

We all stayed in our pajamas till noon.

I took a bubble bath, wherein I thought about how lovely it was that my children are such good friends and play so well together.

I folded laundry, cleaned up the kitchen, vacuumed, paid some bills. The kids unloaded the dishwasher, cleaned up their stuff, made their beds, and watched a movie.

When Hubs got home he and the kids played soccer in the backyard while I made dinner. We polished off the day with lemon chicken, tater tots, corn, and seemingly endless discussion about what to name the new puppy (still haven't agreed on anything).

Aside from two broken glass incidents (one glass jar accidentally fell onto the floor during "train," and one heavy Mexican glass was dropped during dishwasher unloading) and two clogged toilets, it really was a nice day. I like having the kids at home with me from time to time... but no I won't be converted to homeschooling (much to the dismay of my homeschooling friend who is always trying to convert me).

Did you have a nice day yesterday?

I took a bath too, with peppermint bubble bath.

Quinten was home almost all day. That's always a treat.

The Christmas lights came down, and finally the last of the Christmas stuff is packed away in the garage.

The kids played "Treasure Hunt" almost all day. Isn't it so great to have kids who love to play with each other?
