Not to speak ill of the deceased, but the more we get to know Juno #2, the more we realize that poor Juno #1 was never quite right from the beginning. She seemed normal enough to us until she started losing her ability to walk. But looking back, there were so many other things that she did or didn't do that just weren't quite "normal" puppy behavior. The tail wagging, the potty habits, jumping, whining, playing, behavior at the vet, and so many other little things... our new puppy just does everything a puppy should, while our Christmas puppy didn't.
I took Juno (the new one) to the vet for her first shots & check-up a few days ago, and everything looks great. As it should. Later when I told Molly that Juno had been to the vet and was healthy, she said to me, "Oh Mom, how GOOD did it make you feel when the vet said that this Juno is HEALTHY!!" What a sweetheart; definitely the animal lover of the family... although all the kids love to play with the puppy and they have all been helpful.
Without further ado here are a few recent pictures of Juno; bear in mind it's really hard to photograph an active puppy!
We did get our money back from the first Juno's breeder, so that's nice. The new Juno came from an excellent litter; both parents have really good pedigrees sprinkled liberally with hunting/field titles; I know my family is sick of hearing about it BUT Juno's grandpa IS kind of famous. What does all this mean? It means she was a little more expensive, it means she comes from responsible breeders and isn't inbred, and it means she's smart and trainable. In just a couple of days of working on sit/stay/come with her, I can already tell that she's a real smarty pants (not that I'm any expert on dog training). She is really playful, has a great little personality, and is so much fun to have around. Yay!
