The latest in a long history of chore charts

On Monday for FHE we came up with 8 daily chores the kids can take turns doing, and today I made this little beauty. See? The smaller circle turns so that the kids will each have two new jobs every day. The different-colored pieces are individually taped on (no problem since everything's laminated), and I have lots of extra pieces to switch out the jobs when these get stale, or as the kids get older and can take on harder things. Some other job ideas I have in mind are feed the fish, feed the dog, walk the dog, wash the dishes, help make dinner, etc etc. I am REALLY into lamination lately, as I have recently discovered that Teaching Tools charges only 89 cents per linear foot... which turns out to be about 45 cents per square foot; cheap!

In other news, the new puppy continues to be awesome. And I may have neglected to confirm with you that yes indeedy, her name is Juno. We tried, really we did, to come up with a new name for the new pup but Hubs and I just do not see eye to eye on dog names! So Juno she is. We love her; I'll put up some more pictures soon.

And in the bad news department, I got my first photo-radar ticket. Our state is going CRAZY with the installation of photo-radar cameras on EVERY freeway!! They automatically snap your picture when you're going 11 mph (or is it 10?) over the posted speed limit. I was doing 67 in a 55. But really I thought the speed limit was 65. AND the camera was at the bottom of a hill. No fair. So, for those of you keeping track, I went SEVENTEEN YEARS without ever having received a ticket, and now I have gotten TWO in the past six months. Ouch.

Awesome chart. I wonder if I can adapt it? Chore charts are such a chore! We try something for a few days/weeks and it fizzles. Grrr....

Glad to know things are going well with the new doggie.

Great looking chart. We are just starting to get into creating & managing chores around here...what a chore!!!

Good to know about Teaching Tools and laminating. Kim O. has a big laminator but I always feel like I'm bothering her and it's big & heavy to borrow & heat up.

Glad to hear the new puppy is doing good.

I got flashed by a photo radar the other day. And I was going like 50 in a 65 zone. Not sure why I got flashed (I was the only one on the road I think), but you better believe there's gonna be a serious war if I get a ticket...

Wow! That is a great idea! Tell me how it goes with the little ones :) but I guess your little ones aren't so little anymore :)

I am sorry to hear about all the tickets :( that's such a bummer!

Jamies' baby does seem so much older! Congrats to Jamie if she sees this :D

GREAT CHART!!! I need to go to your house to learn how to make one of those handy chore charts. Seriously.

Oh, and what are those 2 blue circles on each top corner?

So sad to hear about your Christmas puppy, but so SO HAPPY to hear about Juno 2.0 doing well :)

The blue circles are magnets holding it to the fridge :) It's on a 12x12 piece of cardstock, in case you wondered the size. The kids were excited this morning to come downstairs and see what their chores are for today... but I'm sure it won't take long for the excitement to wear off!

That's great! We have to change our chore chart/sytstem every few weeks when the novelty of the latest chart/system wears off. The one I have now is just too complicated, though, so it's going to be changing sooner than usual. Maybe I'll just recycle an old one this time...
