Day one:
We loaded up (easily the most stuff we've taken on a trip, EVER) and departed our house at 2:51pm on Thursday July 23rd, and arrived at Jake & Tiffany's house at 2:05am that night, in Draper, Utah. They were so accomodating and had beds set up for all of us, ready to crash upon arrival. Thanks so much!
Day two:
Delicious breakfast burritos a la Jake & Tiff! Then we embarked on a grand tour around the entire Salt Lake Valley, starting with an opportunity to visit some of my very good friends:
~My kids & Leigh's, clockwise-ish: Zoe, Molly, Lucy, Noah, Jack, Charlie, Sam, Luke~
Leigh & I have been friends since we were 14, and these days we only see each other about once every five years. She's one of those girls who will be my friend forever; wow Leigh can you believe it's been 20 years since we met! We went to her house in Salt Lake, had lunch, and had the additional treat of seeing most of the rest of her family (parents, etc) who were in town for a family reunion.
After that we drove to Bountiful, to Aaron's parents' house ~ except they're on an 18-month mission to Brazil and Aaron's aunt & uncle are staying at their house. We visited with them for about an hour but didn't take any pictures! The kids saw deer in the backyard, which is always a highlight.
Then we met up with this group at a park. Our friends the Crossmans were our neighbors when we were first married and living in Provo. They're so great and I know we'd hang out with them all the time if they didn't live in Carson City, Nevada! They drove all the way to Salt Lake to see us (and some other people); we hadn't seen them since we moved from Provo over 9 years ago. Our kids played at the park while the grown-ups had a chance to catch up.

Me & Laurie (read her version of events here - much more witty than me!)

( I couldn't resist posting this picture. Just couldn't.)
After a full day of visiting with so many fun friends & family, we drove to South Jordan to pick up our "home" for the next week... I'll post pictures of it tomorrow! Then it was back to Draper for a while, and then that night we went to Josh & Nicole's house (Aaron's other brother) in Cedar Hills to celebrate July 24th, with sparklers and a gorgeous view of several fireworks shows in the valley from their back porch.
(I just can't get enough of Zoe's new haircut. )

How fun that you & Laurie got to see each other (I just read her blog about it too)!
Sounds like your trip and ours (coming up in Oct) will be similar - catching up with friends/family in Utah and then off to Yellowstone.
Great pictures (although in some shots I'm even more convinced that too much of a good thing is simply too much). I totally wish our kids could hang out more. Hmmm,
Mr. B., there are some awesome vacation homes for rent in Tahoe. Come stay a week (or two) and see Shakespeare on the lake and the wooden boat show. That way, I can get a good long fix of Sara and meet Kate and Jamie too!
Let's not wait another 9 years!
Fun, fun! I'm loving the narrative! Keep it coming! I just posted some of our pics from last weekend.
Love the photo of the Big Boys too funny! So jealous that you got to see them, happy for you, but jealous at the same time.
Great pics, what a trip. Too bad you didn't go two weeks later, we might have made it onto the itinerary. Hey, could you send me another email? I can't find the first one you sent me.
