Day 3, continued:
We stopped on Saturday afternoon at Mesa Falls, in Eastern Idaho close to the Wyoming border. It's beautiful! We spent the night in Big Springs campground, not far from there.
Then it was on to...
Yellowstone!
Much of Sunday we drove around the park, looking for wildlife, and the only impressive wildlife we saw that day was this big guy grazing outside a visitor's center. The rest of the animals had decided to stay home, and we were all a little disappointed. However, we did see lots of other impressive things.

Like this pretty rainbow over Yellowstone Lake.

This deep emerald geyser pool, called Abyss Pool.

Lots of other interesting (and stinky) geothermal activity:

On Monday, the animals decided to come out! We saw hundreds of bison, more elk and deer, pelicans, squirrels, and one of the highlights of the trip...

I love Yellowstone. I lived their one summer between my junior and senior year of high school to run a Snow Shack for a guy in my ward, it was awesome!
Good pictures. I really like that place! I'm glad your kids got to see so many of the animals.
I have very vivid memories of a Yellowstone trip when I was about 6. I think my kids would love it. The wheels are turning...
