Day 3:
On Saturday July 25th we left Jake & Tiffany's house for our big adventure. After stopping in Draper for groceries, we headed north. Here was our home for the next seven days:

And on the inside:

This shot was taken when the side thing was NOT out, so this was the amount of space we had while driving. When we stopped for the night, we slid the side out and had about 15 inches additional hallway width in front of the couch & dining area.

Every night, all four kids slept "upstairs" in the big bed above the cab. They loved it! We loved it too; it meant we could shut the curtains in front of their bed and have the rest of the motorhome to ourselves... not that it would've mattered much; most evenings after the kids were in bed Aaron went fishing and I read in the back bedroom. I got through nearly 1200 pages during the week and it was fun to have the time to do some reading. And FYI the bed was plenty big enough; they are not falling off here... only their long sleeping bags are hanging off the end! It was probably about the size of a queen bed and they fit just great up there. They stayed nice and warm too; it got pretty chilly at night.

The first 24 hours or so, the kids were so excited about being in the motorhome that they would NOT sit still. Every activity lasted about 6 minutes, including watching movies, and then they wanted to do something different! After that first day they settled down and were great kids; they played a lot of card games, coloring, "school work," travel games, etc.

Sometimes they just kept Dad company in the front seat, watching the beautiful scenery. And wearing my sunglasses.

FYI, we rented this RV from a private party that we found through KSL Classifieds. It turned out to be a pretty good deal. The vehicle itself was very new with only a few thousand miles on it, and the rate was lower than most others we looked at. If we had gone with a big company like Cruise America, we would've paid several hundred dollars more overall, and it would've been a slightly smaller RV since their biggest of this type are not as big as the one we used. And, more than likely, it wouldn't have been as new & clean as this one was. It was a great way to travel! We had enough space, without it being SO big; Aaron could still maneuver it with no trouble. It was quick to park & level (it has to be level for the fridge to run. Weird, I know.) and pop out the side when we were settled for the evening... and also quick to pop back in when we were ready to leave for the next day's adventure! We will definitely do this again.
Next time: some pretty nature pictures and some more of my kids too. You're brimming with excitement, I can tell!

Sara...This looks like a lot of fun! I'm glad you all had a great time!
Isn't it a fact of life that all kids LOVE RVs, campers, trailers? Mine would've been hyper with excitement the entire trip.
Thanks for the pictures Sara. It looks like a really great time to me. I'll have to talk with my son about spending too much time fishing. Hmmm . . . I wonder where he got that from.

I loved all of these pictures. That RV is so nice! I'm glad to finally put some pictures with all that I have been hearing about! Looking forward to your next installment...
Oh, and I laughed outloud at Laurie's previous post comment to "Mr. B!" So funny, that Laurie.
I am intrigued...this whole concept is looking fantastic to me! I never would have thought of looking thru classified to find a motorhome.
