Can you tell what's in there?

Uh-huh, it's a tarantula.

Noah & Aaron found this guy on a hike in the Four Peaks area a few weeks ago and they were good enough to bring him home. It's been living in a glass quart jar on my counter ever since, giving me the heebies every time I'm cooking dinner and see its big black hairy body moving around out of the corner of my eye.

Today I bought a proper container for him and set it up just like the "exotic pets" website said I should, including a shallow water dish and a place for him to hide, which means he is officially our newest pet.

He's growing on me, because he's now in a container that won't shatter into a million pieces and release a huge freaky spider into the house if accidentally dropped. At least, I don't think it will...

You are a WAY cooler mom than I am! No chance in the world there will ever be spiders or snake living under my roof...if they come, I go.

Oh you are brave. I would never allow that because I would seriously have nightmares!

Oh, my gosh, I could NEVER do that. I had a Hobo spider living right outside my window by my computer, and everytime he walked by on the screen, I seriously almost threw up. Having one in my kitchen would be ten times worse!!

Braver woman than I...I hated having fish for almost 2 years. I helped one die once...

oh dear, Alex wants one of these so bad. Carl made the mistake of telling him he could have one when he's 12 (6 more years) so Alex has been studying up on them (read 12 books from the library) and talks and talks about when he'll get one. I really don't want one and hope he forgets over the next 6 years.
