Remember when I started these? It seems like forever ago! Well, I finished them this morning, just in time for trick-or-treating tonight. They're shown in order of my kids' ages. Each helped design their face, they each chose their fabrics, ribbon/no ribbon, etc. I strayed from the original instructions in two ways: most noticeably, leaving off the lids. The lids are all partially finished and they are super cute but I don't have time to finish them today, plus I think it will be easier to put candy in them without the lid there. I may add them in the future, because now that I look back at my inspiration, I think they would look so much cuter with them! The other change I made was that I added some floral wire to the inside of the top lip in order to keep them "open" and not collapse in on themselves. (I don't think you can see in this picture but they are all lined with black fabric inside; Noah's is solid black and the girls have black with tiny white polka dots.) After sewing the lining to the top, I used my widest zig-zag stitch (which is super wide on my new machine) to secure the wire along the 1/2" seam allowance, keeping the wire right in the middle of the foot while stitching. Then I cut the wire and bent the ends to keep it in place and proceeded to stitch the lining together & stuff it.
The kids like them; they were very understanding when I told them they wouldn't be finished before Wednesday's Trunk or Treat but they're glad they get to use them tonight!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
