(click on picture to enlarge)Unlike some people, I was not blessed with an eye for design. I am absolutely clueless when it comes to looking at an empty room and visualzing what might look nice in there. But I must say I do love the way our living room is shaping up.
My wonderful mother-in-law Ruth, who is a real-life designer, is responsible for the rug and the leather sofa (as well as several other items in our home, not pictured). For the record, the lamp will most likely move to another corner now that the new bookshelf is there.

Looks great, I hear ya about not having any talent in that area. I'm calling in my sisters for help when we finaly have the money do get it right.

I did put out a bird feeder for the birds, but it didn't make them stay. They learned how to fly and didn't look back. But I am hoping that I made it nice enough for them while they were here that I'll have another nest next year.
That was really interesting about the ants. A sister in law is having the same kind of trouble, so I am sure she'll love the info.
That was a very funny conversation for a teen to have with you, but I am glad that he's knows the value of education. I, too don't know how singles mom's do it.

The little grass thingy on your bookshelf is cute. It's so fresh looking.
Fun post...I enjoy looking at interior decor...it gets the wheels turning in my head for ideas with my own home.
